JOAN KANE NICHOLS
Joan Kane Nichols has received an award from the Mentor Program of the Mystery Writers of America/NY for her literary mystery, A Novel by Dickens; a grant from the Money for Women/Barbara Deming Award for her novel-in-progress, Required Reading; and a scholarship to the Norman Mailer Writers Colony in Provincetown to work on a biography of Edna St. Vincent Millay. Her biography of Mary Shelley was named a New York Public Library Notable Book for Teens. Currently living in Philadelphia, Nichols is a lifelong New Yorker with wanderlust and has lived for years at a time in New Orleans and Boston, where she took Master Classes in fiction and the novel at Grub Street.

Her short story "Treasures" appears in the August 2012 issue of The Drum.
