Audio Literature: Is it cheating if you "read" by listening?

Two recent articles in the New York Times Book Review discuss the pleasures and occasional vagaries of reading books by listening to them. We're wondering what took them so long to realize that audio is an increasingly important part of the way we consume narrative.
