VIJEE VENKATRAMAN
A native of tropical South India, Vijee Venkatraman now braves the bitter winters of her adopted home in New England, managing to stay warm by keeping one metaphorical foot in both worlds. An inorganic chemist by training, she did her time as a programmer during the dotcom era and was part of the finishing team for the Human Genome Project. Those years at MIT opened her eyes to interesting research that happens around her. Instead of doing science, she decided to write about it. She is a freelance journalist who writes for New Scientist, Science Careers, Nature, Technology Review and the like. www.vijeejournalist.com
Her essay "Improbable Cargo" appears in the February 2013 issue of The Drum.
